My name is Ricci Jess founder of Truth About Breast Implants. In Sept 2017 I had an enbloc capsulectomy performed by Perth plastic surgeon. It was 14 years after my breast augmentation that I stumbled across Breast Implant Illness after 10 years of suffering severe autoimmune diseases, chronic inflammation and a multitude of symptoms. 

I won’t go through my whole journey here as like most of us it’s a long one. I have covered my experience with breast implant illness in the Truth About Breast Implants Ebook and also in my media interviews which you can find in the Media tab. 

What I want to cover here is how Truth About Breast Implants started.

For some of you this may be the first time you are discovering information on the real dangers of breast implants, I want to support you through that journey by sharing information I have spent years learning. On the other hand there will be many of you that have heard about breast implant related illness from the vast media coverage over the last 2 years resulting in regulatory boards such as the TGA, FDA & HC being forced to finally reassess the safety of these devices, implementation of medical task forces and starting proper case studies the first of which are not conducted and controlled by the implant manufacturers themselves. This was grossly over due though back in 2017 none of this had happened yet. I felt compelled to share my story and with the help and encouragement of my friend Louise who set up all my accounts while I was recovering from surgery Truth About Breast Implants was born. A resource to help other women that were suffering and to inform women considering breast implants of the dangers and possible side effects. As I was sharing my journey publicly it was clear just how badly this was needed, there were so many people out there wondering if I was the only one this had happened to, hundreds of women reaching out with similar issues but most of all people thinking I was just plain crazy! 

This only drove me to prove just how many women were sick from implants and that is when I branched out from sharing just my own journey to sharing the journeys of thousands of women through my platforms on Instagram and Facebook.

Fellow Bii sufferer and now close friend Tammy bonded over our experience and supported each other through our breast implant removal journey we knew it was important to have a local support page in Perth Australia which was Tammy’s project while I focused on getting the word out nationally and globally. We have met so many incredible women along the way and have an incredible admin team Ash, Sheree and Renee having helped with the day to day running of the support group and have supported so many local women through their journey. 

Renee co-authored the Truth About Breast Implants Ebook. After having done media interviews in Australia which lead to hundreds of women reaching out to us for information and help it became clear that an information resource like the Ebook was needed. 

This website is the next step in collaborating all of the above into one space where women can find all the information and support they need and access an incredible community of strong, brave, inspirational women from all over the world.
